Central Coast boaters have been warned of a large water hazard adrift somewhere off the Central Coast.
Marine Rescue NSW has reported a Department of Fisheries buoy, approximately 4m long and weighing around 400kgs, has broken away from its mooring at Laurieton and is now believed to be drifting in waters off the Coast.
The buoy, which contains around $50,000 worth of equipment, is believed to be dragging its mooring rope along with it.
The buoy can be identified at night via a flashing light mounted atop the float.
Anyone who comes across the buoy is urged to contact their local Marine Rescue branch.
