Markets raise funds for charitable endeavours

Toukley CWA members Judith Byrnes, Aurora Calvar and Sylvia Bhayat, at the markets

The Toukley branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) has been holding monthly markets to raise funds for charitable endeavours.
So far this year, the CWA has been supporting Australian farmers who have suffered as a result of drought, and communities across QLD devastated by the recent floods.
The CWA’s recent January market was particularly fruitful with a local couple generously donating $300 to drought relief for farmers.
Branch member, Aurora Calvar, has been a regular stall holder at the markets and runs a table selling shoes and handbags.
Calvar wished to acknowledge the Lionesses Club of Gwandalan for donating shoes and bags to the CWA, and said, this should activate other community groups to work in conjunction with the CWA on future fundraisers.
