More than 20 homes, businesses and motor vehicles around the former Gosford LGA were hit by thieves over the weekend of March 23-24, according to Brisbane Water Police District.
In a weekend property crime report published on the District’s official Facebook page, it was revealed that 11 incidences of break and enter/steal from dwelling were reported to police over the weekend, with two attempted break ins recorded at properties in Point Frederick and Umina, six successful break ins recorded at properties in Gosford, Umina, Woy Woy, Pearl Beach and Narara, and three successful break ins at businesses at Umina, West Gosford and Kariong.
Five incidences of steal from motor vehicle/vessel were also recorded with vehicles targeted in Lisarow, Somersby, Narara, Point Frederick and Umina.
Five incidences of steal motor vehicle/vessel rounded out the report with vehicles stolen at North Avoca, Umina, Gosford, Narara and Woy Woy.
According to the report, a 47-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged for his role in the break in/steal from dwelling which occurred on Tanuda Cl, Narara.
The report also revealed that vehicle owners around the LGA may be too lax when it comes to their own security, with three of the five incidences of steal from motor vehicle occurring from unsecure vehicles, with the report indicating two of the vehicles had been left unlocked, whilst the third had a window left partially open.
