Dateloaf in-house baking competition for a good cause

Angela Allen, Toukley CWA President, June Howards and Merrin Rudder

A dateloaf in-house baking competition proved very successful for the Toukley Branch of the Country Women’s Association (CWA) members, with nine entering their own baked goods.
“Our judges were, Angela Allen, who visited with her guide dog Piper, and, Merrin Rudder, CEO of Central Coast Guide Dogs Association,” said Branch Publicity Officer, Jennifer McIntosh.
“Angela, who is vision impaired, said that her taste buds are very sharp as is her sense of touch, and was very impressed with the quality, moisture and flavours of the entries.
“The winner was, Judith Byrnes, with, Yvonne Coleman, in second and, Sylvia Bhayat, in third.
“Merrin was very happy to sell many little guide dog toy pups to members.
“This is for a good cause, as to get a dog to the stage where they are a fully-fledged guide dog, it costs $45,000,” McIntosh said.
