Proposal for two-storey gym at Club Umina

Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club was named the Club of the Year by Central Coast News

A $2.3m proposal to replace a bowling green with a two-storey gymnasium at Club Umina has been referred back to the applicant.
Club Umina wants to build a gymnasium in the south western corner of the crown land it leases at its site at Carawa and Melbourne Sts, Umina.
The proposed gymnasium would have ground floor gymnasium with separate male and female amenities, reception area, lounge and a cafe with office and staff amenities upstairs.
A maximum of five staff would be employed with a maximum of 30 clients accommodated at any one time. It would operate between 6am and 9pm seven days a week.
The club would add another 18 car spaces.
The application also proposes to construct a green-keeper’s shed for use in conjunction with the two bowling greens that will remain.
The proposal is open for public comment until September 22.
One submission asks if there is provision for replacing an existing 18,000 litre water tank which holds bore water to water the greens and the gardens.
“if not, do the developers propose to use town water to water the remaining greens and gardens which has never happened in the past?
“Also, in this application, the council car park at Umina Oval loses several parking spaces.
“During the winter sports season, parking is already at a premium all day Saturday and most Sundays especially when the markets are on in the parklands opposite.”
