Student activists achieve a better canteen

Henry Kendall High School’s canteen has obtained full NSW Healthy Canteen Strategy certification from Central Coast Area Health.
The certification comes after a student led campaign to bring a wider range of more nutritionally sound foods and meals to the menu.
Principal, Andrew Backhouse, congratulated students and canteen staff for the joint initiative.
“After working closely with our Year 10 SALSA student activist team, our canteen has now received approval from Central Coast Area Health as fully meeting the requirements of the NSW Healthy Canteen Strategy.
“The strategy is a joint initiative of the Department of Education and NSW Health, and aims to ensure students are provided with a range of tasty and nutritious options,” he said.
